Amy was born in Northern Ireland and moved to England in1992. She went through the foster care system after ending up in foster care in 2000. Amy has been married twice and divorced twice, the second being the worst. Amy had escaped a 15-year abusive marriage and services failed at every turn with the support needed just not being there when needed. After Amy attempting an overdose and Carrie trying to support while dealing with her own problems in life, they decided to set up Sisters of Support.
Amy is a mum to 2 boys and is a criminology and sociology degree student. She is also a Shildon town councillor, local activist and has completed some level 2 courses in Mental Health and domestic abuse awareness.
Amy’s life has been very diverse, and she is honestly one of those most incredible warriors and survivors. She is passionate in her beliefs and is one of the most amazing women who brings love and laughter to those around her. She is a quirky ‘no nonsense’ woman who we are all lucky to have as one of our biggest supporters. Her support and life experiences are an amazing support to all the people around her and especially the ladies in group. Amy will always fight for what is right and works hard to battle all problems life throws at her with determination and humour. Her strength has gotten her through so much in life and we are proud of her for every next right step she takes.
