Carrie Howarth (DBS HELD) Founder/Director/ Facilitator

Sisters of Support was born when both Amy and Carrie had felt the support promised by services had fallen short and they found themselves in a vulnerable position. Carrie happened to mention to a local councillor that her and Amy would love to set something up for women that felt the way they did, lost, alone and with no real help from services and within 24 hours it was happening, the ball was rolling.
Carrie is from Aycliffe and has spent her entire life engaging the community in one way or another. Her grandfather Syd Howarth was known as Mr Newton Aycliffe, he along with her father and other family members, had instilled in Carrie a heart of giving form a young age. Having volunteered with The Rotary Club from a young age, Aycliffe Radio, and other community projects, Carrie has a wealth of knowledge and contacts which often helps Sisters of Support. She also holds an Events Management BA Hons Degree along with having undertaken a few level 2 courses in Mental Health, Neurodiversity’s and health and safety.
Recently she has been diagnosed with ADHD and has become a strong advocate for people with neurodivergence, the diagnosis made a whole lot of sense for Carrie as she has a beautiful son who is autistic. Carrie is the reason Amy still stands, she is a fierce friend and a loyal sister. It’s like they are two halves of a whole, Carrie is the light and magic, she is the calm in the storm and the light in the dark.
