Sam Brown – S.O.S. Choir Lead

Meet Sam, she is autistic and passionate about music she is writer and composer and has been fascinated with music from a very young age. Sam holds higher national diploma in jazz, commercial and popular music, which she gained at Newcastle College and Gateshead College.

She has always loved nature and walking, but when she became physically disabled, she had to give up walking, many official activities and work, which was devastating to her, but, she said that “as a silver lining, it did introduce me to the Sisters of Support  women’s mental health group, who have been amazing with me.”  Speaking about group she says “I have developed friendships there and grown a deep love for the women within the organisation and I will soon be starting a new women’s choir within Sisters of Support.”

Sam has previously worked within a choir, helping to build and shape it and am currently attends a choir. Sam is the perfect choice as our choir master and when asked for a few words she had this to say: “I now have the opportunity to build this new choir and hopefully help build our women’s confidence and mental wellbeing, which I am so looking forward to.

Like a lot of people, I’ve had my share of trials and still do, but I believe that sometimes we go through trials to shape and strengthen ourselves for the better and also to help us have the empathy and ability to help others when they face trials in their lives. I also think that we don’t always understand the purpose of some of our trials, until they have ceased and we can look back, so if I can help make someone’s burden easier to bare, whether it be because I’ve been in a similar situation or not, then I consider myself glad to be able to help. I am generally an upbeat and happy person and like to think that I can do some good in the world, even if only in a small way”
