Lauren is one of our dedicated facilitators at the Bishop Auckland Group, working alongside her friend and fellow volunteer, Emma. The two met while studying at college in 2023 and quickly discovered a shared passion for supporting others. They first heard about Sisters of Support through Amy, a fellow student on their degree course, and were immediately drawn to the charity’s mission of empowering women and creating a safe, welcoming community. Without hesitation, they both knew they wanted to get involved.
Lauren is a proud and loving mum to three children. She is navigating the everyday highs and lows of single parenthood while also embarking on a deeply personal journey of rediscovering who she is, having bravely left a controlling and abusive relationship. This chapter of her life has brought with it challenges, but also new opportunities to embrace freedom, independence, and self-discovery.
Known for her love of spontaneity, Lauren thrives on unplanned adventures, whether it’s a spur-of-the-moment day out with her children, exploring the countryside, or simply enjoying time in nature. She treasures the outdoors and finds beauty in life’s simplest moments — a walk in the fresh air, a shared laugh, or a quiet cup of tea with friends.
Since joining Sisters of Support, Lauren has looked forward to each and every biweekly meeting. She has found great joy in watching the women in the group open up, form bonds, and grow in confidence. For her, facilitating is more than just volunteering — it’s about creating a space where women feel heard, supported, and inspired to believe in themselves again.
